Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for hotel manager
In the course of increasing globalization, the irreparable destruction of the environment advances at an alarming speed. At the same time, the world's cultural diversity quickly decreases. Prerequisites for the success of any tour organizer are, however, an intact environment and great cultural variety. Just as important, optimal communication between the cultures is necessary to recognize and avoid conflicts and misunderstandings in good time. In today's world it is therefore imperative to promote sustainability and intercultural communication and thereby economically safeguard tourist enterprises in the long term.

The Hotel Training Institute Beluga School for Life Phang Nga promotes sustainable tourism by means of a training concept unique in Thailand. The institute's own guest area particularly facilitates a professional, practical education. The proceeds of the guest area fully benefit the Beluga School for Life (BSfL), an aid project for tsunami victims and children and adults in need.
As of November 2008, the Hotel Training Institute will also offer one-week CSR seminars for hotel managers, including a stay at the BSfL. The aim of the offer is to promote sustainable tourism management and intercultural communication at the tourism destination. A list of criteria, which can be directly implemented and expanded upon at the participant's own hotel, is compiled based on the example of the so-called Rio+10 criteria. In the afternoons, the participants take part in intercultural training sessions, covering numerous exercises pertaining to cultural self-awareness and external experience. The aim is to heighten the sensibility for intercultural encounters and to convey strategies for dealing with typical conflict situations. Hotel managers can subsequently transfer the tried and tested methods to their own hotel staff.
We want to promote sustainable tourism in Thailand. You can help: Offer practice-oriented and lasting advanced training opportunities to your hotel managers in form of a CSR seminar.
