The „Flying Classroom“ in the Beluga School for Life
Become informed about the School Encounter Trip
Learning through experience is both exciting and effective. With the School Encounter Trip to the Beluga School for Life, students have the chance to see and get to know Thailand in a unique way through a special perspective and also gain insight into the Beluga School for Life aid project.
The concept of the school encounter trip began in 2008 with the cooperation between the University of Applied Sciences Bremen and the Beluga School for Life.
Accordant with the wish to create a network between the aid project and international schools, students of the Learners’ Company developed a concept for a trip that makes the cultural exchange between young students and Thailand possible. Through excursions and activities with the children of the BSfL, the students experience authentic encounters on their trip and can get to know the land, culture, and people.
Furthermore the students gain insight into the aid project as well as the daily life of the people that reside there. In this respect, the students can participate in the instruction at the Beluga School for Life and can take part in the interdisciplinary courses at the Organic Farming Center or Thai dance aside from the theoretical lessons taught at the Thai school.

Visit to the BSfL: by Car, by Bus, or Just Simply by Bike
Usually guests of the Beluga School for Life are greeted with a warm welcome at the airport and brought directly to the project with the BSfL’s own transfer. Some even come to visit spontaneously by car or scooter. But this time it was different!
With the personally set day’s goal of 30km, the 74-year-old Mr. Janusz Rivers cycled straight into the Beluga School for Life. Since the millennium the native pole and his bicycle are always on the road for 5 months, traveling off the beaten track in order to get to know land and people better.
Meanwhile Janusz Rivers has already reached 115 countries by bike and his current Southeast Asia journey, which started in Singapore and brought him to Na Nai over Malaysia in the end, is not yet the end for this globetrotter. The destination of his bicycle tour is to be the Olympic games of 2016 in Rio de Janeiro. The Beluga School for Life wishes Janusz Rivers all the best on his way across the world and looks forward to meeting again soon!

Thank You for your Interest in the Beluga School for Life!
Having come across the Beluga School for Life through media reports in Germany as well as in Thailand, interested persons come to visit almost on a daily basis. Whether with registration or spontaneously without – you are cordially invited to campus tours (10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.) in which you are given the first impressions of the history, development, and educational concept of the BSfL. The day program “Holiday for Life” enjoys exceptional popularity because here visitors actively get to know the family-like companionship of the orphans and their life in the present day after the Tsunami. Impressed by the combination of professionalism and geniality in the aid project, many people donate to the BSfL. Just recently the bank, LBS Landesbausparkasse Bremen AG surprised the little residents with a colorful sea of balloons.
The Beluga School for Life thanks all visitors sincerely for their interest and involvement and looks forward to further guests!

Welcome Back!
Once again Dr. Sebastian Weiland and Mrs. Melanie Weiland visited the BSfL, kindly providing their knowledge and competence in respect to dentistry this time as well. So the little mouths had to open up again in order that a check of the teeth of all the children could be carried out. Usually one would expect fearful children, however Mr. and Mrs. Weiland have integrated themselves into the aid project so much since the beginning that the children could hardly wait to climb onto the dentist’s chair. Afterwards as a reward every child received a toothbrush, toothpaste, as well as a coloring book.
The Beluga School for Life and all of its residents would like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Weiland very much once again for their boundless dedication and is looking forward to meeting again in October!
