As tour operator, the Beluga Travel Lounge GmbH takes care of all tourist issues regarding the aid project Beluga School for Life and organizes eventful encounters far away from mass tourism.
All proceeds from overnight stays, meals and activities directly benefit the project. The ultimate objective is for the Beluga School for Life to evolve into a self-supporting organization on the basis of sustainable tourism.
The Beluga School for Life is an aid project for tsunami orphans and people in need. Its aim is providing children with a new perspective and introducing them to a self-determined life. To this end, the Beluga School for life strives for a type of tourism which is ecologically acceptable, economically sustainable as well as ethically and socially just.
Tourism represents the main source of income for the population of southern Thailand. The incorporation of a guest area, which opened in May 2007, into the Beluga School for Life thus suggested itself. Here, far away from the areas of mass tourism, visitors have the opportunity to become acquainted with everyday Thai culture and the residents and children of the Beluga School for Life. It is furthermore the goal of the institution to design the vacation infrastructure as sustainably as possible. Among other things, the employees are trained specifically to this effect. At the same time, the guest area figures as an important pillar of financing for the project and provides excellent learning potential to the youths regarding the subject of sustainable tourism.

Measures assuring sustainability:
Encounters – Every visitor of the Beluga School for Life takes part in a basic culture course that provides a general introduction to the life of the residents on site. The principle of the Beluga School for Life is then explained in detail during a guided tour across the premises.
Activities – Thai language course, dance workshop and Buddhism tour are but some examples of activities through which the guests can actively experience Thai culture and come in contact with the residents on the spot.
Infrastructure – The Beluga School for Life operates in harmony with nature. The organic growing of vegetables is one example. In the on-site restaurant as well as the employee canteen all vegetables are freshly prepared.
Economic viability – One hundred per cent of the proceeds from the guest area benefit the aid project.
Learning potential – The guest area represents a training center for the young adults of the project and the region. As a training institution for tourism we provide our students with the qualifications necessary to successfully find their place in the world of employment.
